Bournemouth's Stunning Victory: Cherries Thrash AC Milan 3-0 in Europa League Clash
Bournemouth delivered a sensational performance, defeating AC Milan 3-0 in a historic Europa League encounter at the Vitality Stadium. Amine Adli capped off the night with a stunning free-kick, adding to earlier penalties converted by Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier.
This win is a major highlight for Bournemouth, who have never before enjoyed a European night like this. The seven-time champions of Europe, Milan, were unable to match the expectations set by their illustrious history, making this victory all the more special for the Cherries.
It was a stormy evening on the south coast, mirroring the chaos that unfolded in the first half. The defining moment came when Milan's captain and goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, was shown a red card for violently pushing Tyler Adams in the face during a corner.
Maignan's reckless actions led to Bournemouth being awarded their second penalty of the match, which Tavernier coolly converted following Kluivert's successful spot-kick earlier on, after a handball by Koni De Winter.
The night only got better for Bournemouth as Adli, who came off the bench, curled a brilliant free-kick through a fragile Milan wall, showcasing the visitors' disarray.
Fans were left in disbelief as the Cherries took a 2-0 lead against 10 men before half-time. By the final whistle, jubilant supporters were taunting Milan's coach Ruben Amorim, who has yet to secure a win against Bournemouth in five attempts. It was a disheartening return to England for the former Manchester United boss.
Bournemouth's spirits are soaring after this momentous victory, following their first Premier League win of the season against Sunderland just days earlier. They now sit third in their Europa League group with a perfect record of three wins from three matches.
The match saw Kluivert make history as he netted against Milan 31 years and 151 days after his father, Patrick, scored the winning goal for Ajax in the 1995 Champions League final.
As the Cherries continue their European journey, this victory against a storied club like AC Milan serves as a monumental achievement for the team and its supporters.
