Cole Palmer Extends Chelsea Stay Until 2034
Cole Palmer is making headlines again, and this time it's for his new contract with Chelsea, which runs until 2034. The 24-year-old England international was already tied down until 2033, but his standout performances this season have seen him rewarded with an upgrade. Palmer has emerged as one of Chelsea's most vital attacking assets, and he's also stepping up as a leader off the pitch. This new deal places him among the Premier League's longest contracts, joining the likes of Manchester City's Erling Haaland and Chelsea teammates Joao Pedro and Geovany Quenda, who are also committed until 2034. Palmer first joined Chelsea in 2023 for £42.5 million from Manchester City, signing a contract that was only two years old. His renewal reflects Chelsea's strategy of rewarding both established stars and promising talents while keeping an eye on the club's wage structure. In addition to Palmer, Joao Pedro signed a new contract until 2034 back in August, and Pedro Neto inked a six-year deal last month. The connections on the pitch are strong, especially as Palmer has developed a solid partnership with Brazil's João Pedro and rekindled his friendship with Morgan Rogers, whom Chelsea signed for a club-record fee this summer. Palmer has been impressive this season, netting four goals and providing two assists in just seven matches. After grappling with a persistent groin issue last season, he’s finally back in form, although it did cost him a spot in England's World Cup squad. Despite missing the recent international break, Palmer has logged more minutes than any other Chelsea player this season. Manager Thomas Tuchel has pointed out that Palmer still needs to capitalize on more opportunities. Coach Xabi Alonso confirmed that Palmer is expected to be fit for Saturday's clash against Bournemouth. "Absolutely. He's committed, but he needs to be fully fit to play," Alonso stated. "When he's at his best, we need him both for the club and the national team." Palmer has been training well and feeling better, but the club is taking a cautious approach to avoid rushing him back into action. Chelsea currently sits in 10th place in the league after five matches, having conceded 12 goals.
