Jamie Carragher Avoids Bankruptcy After Tax Bill Settlement
Jamie Carragher, the former Liverpool defender and current pundit, has dodged bankruptcy after resolving an unpaid tax bill with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). The bankruptcy petition filed against him in August was dismissed by Judge Nicholas Briggs at a London court. During the hearing, HMRC representative Kevin Hassan confirmed that the debt had been settled, although the specific amount was not disclosed. Reports had previously suggested the outstanding tax was between £700,000 and £800,000. Carragher, who hails from Merseyside, dedicated his entire playing career to Liverpool, famously helping the club secure the Champions League title in 2005. After hanging up his boots in 2013 with an impressive 737 appearances, he transitioned into a successful career as a football analyst, frequently appearing on Sky Sports and CBS Sports.
