Kompany's Health Woes: Bayern's Boss May Miss Arsenal Showdown
Vincent Kompany's availability for Bayern Munich's crucial Champions League match against Arsenal is up in the air. The manager is grappling with a troubling virus that has left him struggling to move comfortably.
Kompany missed Tuesday's training session, prompting his assistant Aaron Danks to handle the pre-match press conference. The squad is gearing up for the big clash at the Allianz Arena, but the absence of their leader could be a significant blow.
The situation escalated after Kompany managed to lead his team through an impressive 6-1 victory over RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Reports suggest he was feeling unwell afterward, needing to rest at home as the virus exacerbated an existing hip issue.
“It has affected his legs at times,” Danks remarked, confirming the manager's struggles. “He’s felt some pain in his legs. As for the couch story, I think we all like to relax after a match. It’s just a virus, and the medical team knows best. The priority is for him to take the necessary time to recover.”
Danks, who filled in for Kompany during last year's Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, is prepared to lead the team again if the manager can't make it. That match ended in a thrilling 5-4 defeat, with PSG eventually advancing 6-5 on aggregate.
Having previously served as caretaker at Aston Villa and coached at various clubs, Danks is ready to step up. He plans to stay in touch with Kompany, ensuring communication remains open even if the manager is sidelined.
