PSG's Kvaratskhelia to Undergo Surgery After ACL Tear
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's season has taken a devastating turn. The Paris St-Germain winger is set to have knee surgery after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during the thrilling 4-2 victory over Barcelona.
The injury occurred in a clash with Xavi Espart, forcing Kvaratskhelia to leave the pitch in the 59th minute, unable to bear weight on his right leg. Unfortunately, there’s no official timeline yet for his return to the pitch.
At just 25 years old, Kvaratskhelia was making his first start of the season in the Champions League. He joined PSG from Napoli in January 2025 and has already been instrumental in helping the team claim back-to-back Champions League titles.
This season, he has appeared 11 times for the Parisians, contributing significantly to their strong performances. PSG also announced that Ousmane Dembele and Marquinhos will be sidelined for a few weeks with injuries of their own, with Dembele suffering from a left thigh issue and Marquinhos dealing with a right thigh injury.
In the match against Barcelona, PSG was tied 2-2 with just ten minutes remaining. The hosts, however, found their rhythm late in the game, netting two goals to secure their perfect start in the Champions League and sitting atop the group with three wins from three matches.
