Teemu Pukki Hangs Up His Boots: A Norwich City Legend Bids Farewell
Teemu Pukki has officially announced his retirement from football at the age of 36, bringing an end to a remarkable career. The former Norwich City and Finland striker, who stepped away from international football last year, holds the record as Finland's all-time leading scorer with 43 goals in 133 matches. His impressive tally of caps ranks him second in the country’s history. During his five-year stint at Norwich from 2018 to 2023, Pukki netted 88 goals in 210 appearances, playing a crucial role in the team's two promotions to the Premier League. Reflecting on his journey, Pukki shared on Instagram, "I've gained a lot more from football than I ever dreamed of when I was a little boy. I've seen the world and gained experience because of football and I don't think I could have gotten anything like football anywhere else." He continued, "It hasn't always been fun or I haven't been able to enjoy it, but the love for football has remained - always. Big thanks to the great clubs and their fans." Pukki will wrap up his career following the Veikkausliiga season with HJK Helsinki, where he has played since 2025, with his final match set for November 8. His journey also included stints at clubs like Schalke, Brøndby, and Minnesota United, as well as a brief period at Celtic, where he scored nine goals in 38 appearances. There was a time when mentioning you were a Norwich fan would elicit a nostalgic response about Jeremy Goss. In recent years, however, the name on everyone's lips has been Teemu Pukki. Arriving as a relatively unknown talent on a free transfer in 2018, Pukki’s past with Celtic had many Norwich fans skeptical. But he quickly proved them wrong. With the help of star player Emi Buendia, Pukki established himself as a club legend, winning two Championship titles and two Player of the Season awards, while sitting fourth on Norwich's all-time scoring list. Their partnership was nothing short of magical, earning high praise from head coach Daniel Farke. Thank you, Teemu. Norfolk will always be ready to celebrate a 'Pukki Party'.
